Yay!!!!!! John has retired! Just wanted to share the good news. March 31st was final day. Don't worry, he's got plenty to keep him busy. The 'vette is out of the garage and talk has been heard about the boat. Watch out fish - there's another retiree on the prowl.

another year to celebrate

We really felt John deserved a celebration for his birthday since he's had less fun this past year. A few local friends and relatives were invited down to the American Legion where they were treated to food, cake and beverage. Thank you all who attended. I posted some photos of the small shin-dig. John enjoys being a member of the Legion and as a family we enjoy participating in the events that place there. Happy 67th birthday Dad! (March 29th)

Finally

Yay! Finally.....got the old John Deere combine fired up. Started harvesting stem-cells yesterday. Almost didn't tho. They thought my white count was too low, but then they changed their minds.
So today is day 2 of the harvest. Will it be enough? Dunno? Might go home tonight, maybe tomorrow.

Otherwise....still fatigued, laying here makes me lose my voice, some pain from the boost medicine. I can take it as long as it takes away the cancer.

Thanks for prayers and thoughts. If you had your toes crossed, you can relax now. Wouldn't want you to trip yourself.

critical care

The next two weeks I'm working clinical at Spectrum Health in there critical care unit. There are many c.c. units, but I'm purposely being vague to NOT violate any rules.

There's so much to know about these patients' conditions. Lots of extra training if I ever decided to go this route as a career. One thing my instructor said was their "normal" was not normal in other settings. Been very interesting. These patients are very sick. What's difficult for me, is that I can't do much to cure these patients. On the med-surg floor, I will see progression and send them home, sometimes even wheeling them out to a car. Critical care is crazy! So many machines. It takes a physician doing something major to help these people.
